Bolesław Chrobry (K) (feb 3, 992 – jun 17, 1025)
Description:
Fine politician. Kept on good terms with the German emperor Otto
Trying to expand Polish territories and at the same time consolidate Poland's position as a Christian state, he sent bishop Adalbert (Wojciech) with a mission to Prussia. Although the mission failed, an archbishopric of Gniezno could be created in the aftermath (Zjazd gnieźnieński 1000 AD). This allowed Poland's church to gain independence from Germany.
After Otto III's death, Poland went to war with Germany.
He demanded to be crowned after the death of Henry II in Germany.
