English Renaissance (dec 30, 1490 – dec 31, 1527)

Description:

Britain during this time period experienced a flourishing art and artsmanship. The English renaissance was the name if this expansion of art. There was a great flowering of music. This is the time period where Shakespeare was active, and many other playwrights were also writing. This is also the time period when the English Epic poem was developed. this movement was different from the Italian Renaissance in that the English renaissance focused more on literature and music and the Italian renaissance focused on the visual arts. Visual arts were slow to progress, this is pretty obvious when you look at Italian and British art works of the same period. The Italian artists were using much more advanced techniques than the British. The British art did not catch up for another hundred years. Architecture was also advancing during this period, most notably the use of a lot of class in homes and buildings. By this time period there was little need to have fortifications, so structures started to be more decorative. The impact of the English renaissance was contained to the upper classes. The common man saw very little impact of this movement in their lives
