Dictatorship of Joseph Stalin (jan 1, 1924 – mar 5, 1953)

Description:

After the death of Vladimir Lenin. The presidency of the USSR went to a vote. The main competitors of this election were Red Army leader Leon Trotsky and longtime Bolshevik Joseph Stalin. Now we know that Stalin wins this and Russia becomes one of the biggest super-powers in the world, but he won because Trotsky wasn't seen as a "one of them." First of all, he was Jewish and not Russian Catholic, Stalin might have been an Athiest but he had close ties with the Church. Trotsky had only been Bolshevik for a couple years compared to Stalin and only joined when it benefited himself. Trotsky also wasn't a politician either, Stalin was giving him an advantage where as well.

After Stalin was elected he forced the nation so evolve faster than any other country just so it could catch up and start its industrial era. he accomplished this was a lot of 5 year plans and a lot of death
