-Short info: English naturalist (natural history), geologist and biologist. Most famous for his contributions to the science of evolution.
-Darwin on the evolution:
All species on earth have descended from common ancestors in a very slow proces (this takes ages and ages). This happens when there's a change within a population of the same species due to a shift in the balance of hereditary characteristics. --> this is spread by natural selection/survival of the fittest (since it is advantageous). Eventually you can't speak of the same species no more.
-Copernical revolution:
Darwin's theory showed the world must have been much older than contemporary geological theories accounted for.
