Rise of National Education (sep 5, 1906 – mar 19, 1919)
Description:
Curzon's university education reform and policy on education- stirred up national sentiments to create a parallel systems of education by the Indians. Partition of Bengal in 1905, further fuelled the desire to create national education.
Characteristics of National Education
1. Indian management-
2. Teaching the love of mother land: A spirit of sacrifice on the part of the founders and teachers of the institution;
3.Provision for religious education;
4. No servile imitation of West
5. Provision of some courses to meet the special cultural needs of the Indian people;
6.A keener study of the oriental classical languages
7.Greater attention to modern Indian languages; and
8.Lower fees.
9.Emphasis on vocational Education
