Description:
The Franco-Prussian War was the result of French fears over German unification. France attempted to preemptively nip the problem at the bud and halt Bismarck's efforts, however it failed and France ended up losing the war. As a result of France's defeat, Germany was to unify unobstructed and Napoleon III was deposed. Additionally, Germany took the territory of Alsace-Lorraine, an action that would leave bitter resentment.
