Dixieland (jan 1, 1910 – jan 1, 1928)
Description:
Dixieland has its roots in the New Orleans ragtime scene, and it was most popular during the 1910s and 20s. It featured a much more complex sound compared to Ragtime, with many more instruments at once. This busy sound featured soprano saxophones, trumpets, pianos, as well as unconventional instruments such as the slide whistle. Additionally, solos were popularized during the era by Louis Armstrong.
