Division of Germany (aug 2, 1945 – oct 3, 1990)
Description:
At the Potsdam Conference, it was agreed that Germany would be divided into four zones between the US, USSR, UK, and France. The western half of the country was divided between the US, UK, and France, while the USSR got the eastern half of the country. Berlin, located in the east, was also divided into four zones. West Germany turned into a western capitalist country, while East Germany turned into a communist country.
