Freedom Riders (may 4, 1961 – dec 10, 1961)
Description:
Even though court cases were won where segregated buses were now ruled unconstitutional, it wasn't really enforced down in the deep south. Due to this, many Civil Rights Activists decided to ride the interstate buses down South in order to protest this.
This spurred on the Civil Rights Movement by bringing national attention to how the Federal law was ignored down in the Deep South and the Unfairness of the Jim Crow laws.
