Presidency of Carlos Salinas (dec 1, 1988 – nov 30, 1994)

Description:

Carlos Salinas was the 53rd President of Mexico, directly following the presidency of la Madrid. He was associated with the PRI Party as well, and was a much more liberal President. He was associated with many neoliberal trade policies, mainly investing much more into foreign assets. He extended off of Madrid's program of privatization by selling off many state assets. His most notable involvement was in the creation of NAFTA, or the North American Free Trade Agreement, in extending his views on foreign investments.
