Miguel de la Madrid was the 52nd President of Mexico, who was also associated with the PRI Party, and valued democracy. He is a political conservative who valued combating corruption and improving foreign policies. His presidency included economic turmoil, which caused the freezing of worker wages, high inflation, and a large amount of foreign debt. The most important event during his Presidency was the discovery of Mexican petroleum, which helped stimulate foreign trade.
