Presidency of Lazaro Cardenas (dec 1, 1934 – nov 30, 1940)
Description:
The 44th president of Mexico, Cardenas was selected by Calles, founder of the PRI (the PNR at the time) to run for president. He did not hold the power of the presidency until Calles was forced into exile during his presidency. Cardenas was a very popular president during his time, as he accomplished a lot for the Mexican people. Included in his list of accomplishments are the creation of PEMEX, which nationalized Mexico's oil industry, and ejidos, land distributed in collective holdings. He also implemented some agrarian reform by exproriating large land estates
