Reign of Charles X (sep 16, 1824 – aug 2, 1830)
Description:
Charles was a conservative who wanted to re-establish the old order. His tactic was to rally French nationalism, which he did by starting a violent war of conquest in Algeria, which lasted long after his reign. He then attempted to get rid of the liberal reforms put in place by his predecessor, but this resulted in the 1830 revolution in France. Charles was forced to abdicate, and the political situation fundamentally stayed the same.
