Reign of Louis XVIII (apr 6, 1814 – sep 16, 1824)
Description:
The Bourbon monarchy was restored after Napoleon's defeat in 1814, and again in 1815. Louis ruled as a constitutional monarch. He granted limited liberal reforms in the French Charter of 1814. He was succeeded by Charles X, a conservative who attempted to undo the reforms put in place.
