Reign of Charles X (jul 7, 1824 – sep 5, 1830)

Description:

Charles X was a conservative reaction to Louis XVIII, wanting to restore the pre-revolutionary era order in France. He began a 17 year military invasion of Algeria to try and garner support while revoking the constitutional charter. This lead to an immediate reaction in the capital with riots in the streets, while Charles refused to set the troops on the rioter. This lead to his abdication and the rise of Louis Philippe on the throne, placed by the wealthy upper middle class who had encouraged the riot.
