Escan Confederation (jan 30, 1689 – may 19, 1757)

Description:

The Escan Confederation, named after the city where the 1689 Confederation Act was signed (Escan), was a loose confederation of states with the goal of forming a unified front against the increasingly hostile Ascollan forces. Though generally considered successful in preventing Ascolla from conquering all of modern-day East Ternev, the EC suffered heavily from internal strife, and would often lose member states, then partake in minor campaigns against Ascolla in an attempt to liberate them, though this was rarely successful due to the structure of the EC, which declared liberation of member states was only voluntary and as such most didn't bother; Too focused on the homefront, or heavily hit in the previous war.

The Escan Confederation was reformed into the (First) Republic of Ternev in 1757 with the Treaty of Johansberg, as a result of the crushing victory achieved in the Battle of Ersenfield on the 4th of June, 1754 (despite this victory, the EC still lost the 2nd Ascollan-Escan War and had to cede more land to Ascolla).
