During this period farming was introduced to Britain. The change from a hunter-gatherer to a farming way of life is what defines the start of the Neolithic or New Stone Age.
Around 4500 a new way of life and farming techniques were introduced from the continent. The 1st farmers came to Britain bringing with them a new way of life. The introduction of farming is regarded as one of the biggest changes in human history.
