Lachoneus I (oct 20, 36 BC – apr 14, 30)

Description:

Lachoneus was a righteous man and a prophet. We are told nothing of his early life, as he is introduced into the record the year that he was appointed Chief Judge. He led the people during the great war against the Gadianton Robbers, serving with Gidgiddoni as Chief Captain. Through his preaching he converted most of the Nephites and Lamanites. He established peace during his reign. He was succeeded in the Judgment seat by his son, who was also named Lachoneus.

His age is hard to calculate, so what I give here is largely my own opinion. We do know that he died in the year AD 30, and that he had a son who was old enough to secede him in the Judgment Seat. And, as he seems to have died of natural causes I assume he was of average age when he died.

So, I list him being born in the year 36 BC, and dying in AD 30. This would make him 66 year old when he died.
This means he would have been born just before the Lamanites conquered Zarahemla, and thus grew up in the turmoil caused by the Gadianton Robbers.
