Modernism (jan 1, 2001 – feb 1, 2019)

Description:

A part of society felt they were mistreated, and they conveyed their emotions and criticized the occurence such as daily racism, their unfair treatment through hip-hop. Examples at the time were tupac, eazy-e, dr.dre etc. Arguably one of the best rappers of all time, Tupac expresses his disappointment with his song “changes”. One verse where he expresses his dissatisfaction:
“I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself Is life worth living should I blast myself?".
He questions his existence, if life is even worth living. The reason is because of the treatment of african-americans, and how it isn’t changing and no one is doing anything about it. Another verse is:
“And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped”.
In this statement, he’s saying that he always has to go around armed with a weapon because of his skin color and the fact that he can’t trust the police enforcement, as they could attack him for no reason at any moment
