The Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire really began when they started to explore Mesoamerica, but the event that started it all was their capture and execution of the Sapa Inca, the Incas’ leader. With permission from the Queen of Spain, explorer Francisco Pizarro began to conquer the Incas.
