Spanish Conquest Of Mexico (feb 1, 1519 – aug 23, 1525)

Description:

The Spanish conquest of Mexico was led by Hernan Cortes. Due to both superior weaponry and the effect of European disease on the natives, the conquest of Mexico was possible with 450 soldiers. Cortes also allied with various indigenous factions that opposed Aztec rule. In both the Spanish conquest of the Incas and Aztecs the land was used to mine for silver. This was done with both the slavery of indigenous people and African slaves. A social hierarchy formed placing the Spanish and Creoles(Those of Spanish descent) above the Mestizos(Spanish+Native American), Mulattos(Spanish and African) and Zambos(African+Native American).
