Council Of Trent (dec 13, 1545 – dec 4, 1563)
Description:
The Council of Trent was held by the Catholic Church during the Protestant Reformation. It dealt with the reformation of the church in order to prevent the alienation of church members, in an attempt to stop the protestant reformation. The council demanded that church officials observe strict a moral code and establish a school to teach priests how to properly fulfill their role in the church. Along with the Council of Trent, the Society of Jesus also attempted to quell the protestant reformation by expanding the influence of Catholicism. They often served as counselors and missionaries in foreign countries. (4.1)(4.2)
