Shay's Rebellion (jan 6, 1786 – oct 21, 1787)
Description:
Western Massachusetts
Revolutionary War veterans were losing their farms because of foreclosure and taxes
They got angry, and led by Captain Daniel Shays, they demanded cheap paper money, lighter taxes, and no more mortgage foreclosures
Massachusetts authorities, backed by the wealthy, created a small army and crushed the rebellion
Effect:
People were scared of there being more rebellions
People started to think that the revolution caused a “monster of mobocracy”
