Nephi II (apr 5, 26 BC – mar 26, 46)

Description:

Son of Nephi I, he was also a great prophet and followed his father as the High Priest of the church. He also kept the records after his father.

He was the leader of the faithful at the time of Christ's birth, when the faithful were threatened with extinction.
He does not seem to have taken much part in the politics and government of the people, and most of his ministry is not spoken of directly. We know that at one point his brother, Timothy, was stoned to death, and later Nephi raised him from the dead.

What he is most famous for is the fact that he was among the 12 Nephite Disciples that Christ ordained in America when he visited. It is not stated, but I believe he was the president of that Quorum.
We do not know which three of the 12 were permitted to stay. He may have been one of them, and he may not. However, if he was not than we know that he died at the age of 72 years, as Christ promised the 9 that they would join him in heaven when they reached that age.

As the exact time of death or birth is not known for any of them we must estimate this based on
other information. Here I give Nephi's age if he was one of the 9 and not one of the 3.
The difficulty here is that for Nephi to have lived any real length of time after Christ's visit, and yet die at the age of 72, he had to have been very young when his father was translated.

I have it listed here that he was born in the year 26 BC, making his father 49 when he was born. His death is then in AD 46, 72 years later, meaning that he served as the leader of the 12 for about 12 years.
