Schism Between Eastern and Western Christian Church (1054 CE) (jan 1, 1054 – dec 31, 1054)
Description:
The Great Schism split the main faction of Christianity into two divisions: Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox. This greatly weakened the church at the time as people became confused as to which to follow. Dual papacy led to political antagonism which hindered the prestige of the papacy.
