Description:

After overthrowing the Yuan (Mongols), Ming dynasty became a center of large civil engineering projects such as the completion of the Great Wall of China, rebuilding of the Grand Canal, and the creation of the Forbidden City. The Grand Canal had a significant impact on trade and helped the economy flourish. Arts such as literature (three of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese Literature were written during the Ming Dynasty), painting, music, poetry, and porcelain were highly prized. The government was run by the civil service which was made up of men trained and tested mostly on the teachings of Confucius.
