Description:

The greatest medieval Muslim traveler and the author of one of the most famous travel books, the Rihlah, is Ibn Battuta from Morocco. His work describes his travels covering 75000 miles in trips to almost all of the Muslim countries along with China and Sumatra. He is known to be “the traveler of Islam” having written the most vivid and wide ranging accounts of the 14th century Islamic world. The traveler met at least 60 rulers and a much greater number of viziers, governors, and other personages and mentioned more than 2000 persons. The Rihlah shed light on many aspects of the social, cultural, and political history of Islam.
