Nephi I (oct 5, 75 BC – sep 14, 1 BC)

Description:

Son of Helaman II, Nephi was a very righteous man and one of the greatest missionaries to have lived among the Nephites.
In his ministry he was always joined by his brother, Lehi, who is described at not being a wit behinid Nephi at to faith and righteousness.

Nephi was likely born near the end of the life of Alma the younger. He would have been a young boy when the wars with Amalikiah began, and a teenager when they ended. He had seen the northern migration, the forming of the Gadianton Robbers, and the dwindling of the people by the time he was in his 20's. His first missionary effort that we know about would have been in his late 20's or early 30's.

He was made chief judge in his 30's, and filled the position in righteousness for about 9 years. he then gave up the post to devote himself to the ministry, just as his great-grandfather, Alma, had.
It was soon after this that he led a missionary effort among the Lamanites that was so successful that they soon became more righteous than the Nephites as a people.

The rest of his life was a struggle against the Gadianton Robbers who threatened the freedom of the Nephites. He revealed some of their works through his gift of prophecy, and spent his time preaching repentance to the people.

His death is not recorded, as it says that he was taken by the spirit. This makes him the second prophet among the Nephites that is recorded to have been translated. This occurred shortly before the birth of Christ.

So, I list him being born in 75, when his father was 24. As he was translated in the year 1 BC, he would have been 74 at the time.
