Timothy Pickering Presidency (apr 19, 1823 – dec 2, 1824)

Description:

Following the Great Lakes War, many proposed that Pickering should run for the Federalist Party. However, knowing their fading influence, the Pickering instead proposed that a more moderate Federalist should run.

However, for his second term, Cabot would have Pickering join him as his running mate. Upon Cabot's death in 1823, Timothy Pickering assumed the presidency and further encouraged the amendments made in the Hartford Convention, but was largely unsuccessful.

However, he was able to successfully advocate the statehood of the Maine District within Connecticut. This granted the New English region with more power and in turn, the Federalist Party.
