Modernism (jan 1, 1901 – dec 31, 2000)

Description:

Modernism is a movement that developed in England in the first half of 20th century, especially it lasts from 1901 which is the year of Queen Victoria's death to 1945 the end of the second world war.
The name modernism belongs especially to the British tradition, but some aspects of this period are common to some different countries in Europe with different names obviously.

Emancipation of women started in this period, but it started from a sad aspect because obviously many man were fighting especially during the First World War and many of them died. Industry was dying along with them, and women had to start working to take the place of their man somehow in order to allow the country and the industry to stay alive.
