Cuban Revolution- Guerrilla War (jul 26, 1953 – jan 1, 1959)

Description:

Fulgencio Batista, a nationalist became president of Cuba in 1940 and requested power in 1952. Fidel Castro tried to organize a coup' against Batista because the people disliked the abusive dictator. Castro failed and decided to build a guerrilla movement with peasants and fellow farmers. With this small army, Castro and his army was able to take out towns one by one. Castro ended up winning in the end. At that time, Cuba was not considered communists but yet but freedom fighters.
