The ICE age (jul 7, 2016 – jan 14, 2019)

Description:

Learn@Home changed its name to ICE (Island ConnectEd) when they moved to a new location. The school year starts in the summer, and I started in a contract for someone finishing her maternity leave. When she returned in October, our TL went on maternity leave, and I shifted to that job. During this time, I got up to 15 months total contract time, which meant I finally had continuing status (increasing my chances of getting future jobs). Then the teacher I had been filling in for at the start of the year went back on leave and I did her job for the rest of the year. Things shifted around at the end of the year yet again, but when the dust settled, I ended up with a continuing contract teaching grade 8/9 English, social studies, fine arts and career education for the foreseeable future. I love my coworkers and students, I’m close enough to school that I walk there most days, and I feel like I’ve finally found my place in the teaching world.

To find out more about where I work, check out our orientation slide show here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1rtyFsYQAtjDJTQkbWWE8xo8Ogmd56ELCQQFIFlalDuk/edit?usp=sharing
