Thomas Jefferson Presidency (mar 4, 1801 – mar 4, 1809)

Description:

Thomas Jefferson was elected in 1801 and served two terms until 1809. Jefferson’s presidency is considered a transitional period in American history in that his administration worked to reverse federalist policies and to ensure that the people were governed as little as possible. They accomplished this goal by repealing the Alien and Sedition Acts, passing the Judiciary Act of 1801 and impeaching Samuel Chase for political bias. Above all else, Jefferson is remembered for his contributions to American expansion. Between the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804, Jefferson was a trailblazer in American expansion.
