Description:
The Japanese invasion in China suspends the Chinese Civil War. Due to the fact that civil war between Nationalists and Communists ragged right after the Long March. As Japan watching the entire power struggles with rising interest, they decided to invade China. They first invaded Manchuria, which is the northeast part of China, an industrialized province. In 1931, Japan launched out to invade China, tremendous bombings of villages and cities killed thousands of Chinese. It also destroyed a lot of farms and caused citizens die due to starvation. By 1938, Japan has already controlled a large part of China. The Japanese invasion forces the Chinese Civil War to suspend, and the two opposition forces to work together to defend their own country, the Jiang’s and Mao’s forces. The Nationalists and Communists united together to fight the Japanese, and gives China a feeling of unity when confronting their opponents. Later on, the National Assembly further agreed to promote the changes of the “Three Principals of People.” I think this is a very important event in history that should be emphasized because this invasion indirectly forces both opposition party to work together and defend their own country. Which creates the unity and peace within the nations and the citizens. It connects to one of the key concept of the unit, change. Because of such a sudden changes, the invasion of Japan, it eliminates the conflict between the two parties. Lastly, I think this event deemed more significant than the Long March or the May Fourth Movement, because it gives the Chinese a warning of Japan’s rising power and strength. The Japanese later on took control on a large part of China. By knowing that Japan also withdraw from the League of Nations demonstrates that the country itself is growing rapidly and showing the eagerness to control different nations.
