Japan invades China (jan 1, 1937 – dec 31, 1938)

Description:

The Japanese saw the Chinese Civil War as a chance of invasion, as the Chinese forces are weakened as thy fight amongst themselves. After the invasion of Manchuria, a province full of resources, the Japanese felt encouraged to invade. After an all-out invasion of China in 1937, the Japanese took control of a large part of China. After the Chinese saw the threat of Japanese invasion, the two parties, lead by Mao and Jiang, finally joined their forces to fight against the Japanese, as neither wanted to lose territory that they could possibly gain from the civil war. The Japanese’ invasion also showed the rest of the world, especially Germany, of how weak the League of Nations is, prompting Hitler to test it as well.
