Spanish-American War (apr 21, 1898 – aug 13, 1898)
Description:
Although this war was officially fought between America and Spain, it took place on Cuban soil. After Spain exploded to USS Maine, the United States decided to aid Cuba in a revolution to win sovereignty from Spain. The United States used yellow journalism to convince to American people to support a war, which they believed was necessary to unite the public after the Civil War. America freed Cuba and gained control of the Philippines through the Treaty of Paris after Spain lost the war.
