Constitutional Convention (may 23, 1787 – sep 15, 1787)
Description:
George Washington presided over the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Each state (sans Rhode Island) was present to develop an alternative plan to the Articles of Confederation that unified the states by taking their individual power and transferring it to a singular national system. The Federalists and Anti-Federalists worked together to develop the Constitution, a combination of Madison’s Virginia Plan and Paterson’s New Jersey Plan.
