Edgar Allan poe was born in 1809 in Boston, massachusetts and was an american poet. E.A. Poe´s mother died when he was very young and his father had already abandoned his family a long time before that, therefore Edgar grew up in an orphanage. He started as a literary critic and had a good reputation. The Raven was his big breakthrough and he became the master of suspense. Edgar Allan Poe was also the one who invented detective fiction and the first American self-employed author. E.A. Poe´s most famous collection is the Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque. Edgar Allan Poe was known for his really creepy horror stories. I personally believe that E.A. Poe wrote horror stories because he had a tough childhood. He grew up without a father and mother and his wife died when she was 20 years old.
Nobody know how Edgar died, but many people have different theories about his death. Some say that he was addicted to drugs and was mentally instable, which also explained why he wrote horror stories. This is just a theory, his death still remains a mystery.
