Nephihah (mar 21, 135 BC – jan 9, 67 BC)
Description:
A just man and and elder in the church. Nephihah was chosen to succeed Alma the Younger as Chief judge, and kept that position until his death. He was so loved that his family kept the Judgment Seat for three generations.
Very little is actually said of Nephihah. He was the Chief Judge when Zoram, and later Moroni were appointed Chief Captain. However, unlike Alma, he never went into battle with the Army.
He was the Chief Judge when Ammoniah was destroyed, and when the Nephites welcomed the People of Anti-Nephi-Lehi.
He judged the Anti-Christ Korihor, in conjunction with Alma. This shows just how close a friend he was with Alma, and how much he respected him.
He was Chief Judge when Amalikiah dissented and during the first portion of the war against Amalikiah.
He died just after the rebellion of Morianton.
While little is said of him he was clearly a very righteous man and was the Judge during a very turbulent time in the history of the Nephites. He served as Chief Judge for 16 years, and was succeeded in that office by his son, Pahoran.
His death is recorded, and thus we can estimate his life. I put his birth in 135. He died in 67, making him 68 years old.
