Abinadi (dec 18, 150 BC – aug 6, 148 BC)
Description:
Abinadi was a prophet among the people of Zeniff. He came among them during the reign of King Noah to preach repentance but was driven out.
Two years later he returned in disguise to again preach. Once he started preaching his identity was discovered and he was arrested. He preached before the king and was protected by God until he had delivered his message.
While Noah was reluctant to kill him at first, Amulon (the leader of the wicked priests) persuaded him to burn Abinadi at the stake.
After all his preaching Abinadi converted only one man, the young Alma, who was a priest of Noah at the time.
I believe that Abinadi was a priest under King Zeniff, and was cast out when Noah installed his wicked priests.
We have no information regarding Abinadi's ancestry or his age. He simply appears in the record during the reign of King Noah, preaching repentance. Because his life is so completely disconnected from the rest of the record it is impossible to estimate anything except the years of his preaching, which is what is covered here.
