Description:
The date is the day it started- In Korea, the Soviet Union promoted a communist government in the North while in the South, the US developed a democratic system. This separation caused major tensions and eventually the North invaded the South in an attempt of EXPANSIONISM. Quickly, through the policies CONTAINMENT in the TRUMAN DOCTRINE, the US decided to fight back. Each came very close to taking over Korea completely but essentially ended right where they had started (38th parallel).Added to timeline:
