King Mosiah I (dec 17, 254 BC – dec 2, 165 BC)

Description:

What little we know about him is in the Book of Omni.

King Mosiah is the first of the Nephite kings to be named. He was a very righteous man, but his people had become very wicked. Being warned of God he led the righteous away and eventually found Zarahemla and the Mulekites.
Mosiah united his people with the Mulekites, and they all accepted him as their King. He also taught the Mulekites the language and the Nephites.

From the account he seems to have had peace after finding Zarahemla, as there is no mention of wars after this point. He also seems to have had the gift of seership, as he translated a stone that had a record of Coriantumr, the last of the Jaredites.

As to his life, the full span of it is unknown. The only things that are known for sure is that Amaleki, the last writer in Omni, was born during the time of Mosiah (indicating that he was already king), and that he died before Amaleki, as Amaleki lived to see Benjamin as king. Based on these things we can estimate his age.

I list him being born in 254, and dying in 165 at the age of 89.
