The period of time covered in the book of Third Nephi.
The Third Book of Nephi was abridged by Mormon from records kept at the time. These records were kept, primarily, by one man: Nephi II, son of Nephi I.
Nephi II was the leader of the church when the sign of Christ's birth was given, and was among the twelve disciples that Christ ordained when he visited the Nephites.
