Alma (jan 1, 91 BC – dec 31, 53 BC)
Description:
The period of time covered in the book of Alma.
The Book of Alma was abridged by Mormon from records kept at the time. The records were kept by several people, as follows:
1. Alma the Younger, the son of Alma the Elder): He recorded the largest portion of the book, being chapters 1-16 and then 28-44.
2. The sons of Mosiah, Including Ammon, Aaron, Himni, and Omner: They recorded their missionary work among the Lamanites, being chapters 17-27.
3. Helaman I, the son of Alma the younger: He took over the record from his father, and recorded chapters 44-62.
4. Shiblon, the son of Alma (the younger brother of Helaman): He took over the record from his brother, and recorded chapter 63.
However, we must remember that it was all abridged by Mormon, and thus there are only a few chapters that are the original words of the original authors (such as the epistles and the sermons).
