Lawrence Kohlberg (oct 5, 1927 – 21h 7min, jan 19, 1987 y)
Description:
American psychologist.
A child's ability to make moral judgements was based on 6 set stages of moral development that began with heteronomous principles of action and ended with autonomous principles. Children move through stages because of interactions such as conflicting social demands and questions proposed by others who think differently. Character Education is real life experiences of decision making. CE is a judgement-oriented approach. Kohlberg took a critical thinking as opposed to a virtues-based approach to Character Education.
