Hispaniolan Consolidation (sep 5, 1945 – apr 18, 1951)
Description:
Ricardo Lucien, who acted as president of Hispaniola since 1937, developed extreme paranoia following the attempted 1945 coup. He banned all US owned business' [with many owner disappearing], established death squads to hunt down anti-Hispaniolan groups, detained many minority groups, took control of German business, and killed all opponents over the course of four years.
In the later years, Lucien solidified his rule by incorporating elements of ancient Haitian mythology into a personality cult. By 1952, many young Hispaniolans regarded him as a holy figure. This period became known as the Hispaniolan Consolidation and ended in 1951 when Lucien declared himself The Great Leader, a posistion he would hold for life.
