Third Haitian Revolution (jan 16, 1936 – feb 28, 1939)

Description:

Following the establishment of the Pro-Colombian Haitian government, rebels in Haiti fled to Mexico to build up their forces. Following the Cuban Revolution, they would then flee to Cuba where they would receive support from the CMWR, Cuba, and Soviet union.

After the revolution started, Colombia initially received support from the west and was in a good position. However, upon the start of the Hungarian War of the Coalition, most foreign support ended.

After a year and a half of revolt, the Haitians had full control over Haiti. However, the idea of a united Hispaniola had began to form and in late 1937, Haitian communist forces invaded Colombian Haiti. By then, Colombia was beginning to experience other Communist revolts in Panama, Costa Rica, and Ecuador; in 1939, the Colombian government accepted defeat in Haiti and the United Hispaniola People's Republic [UHPR] was formed.
