French Revolution (may 5, 1789 – nov 9, 1799)
Description:
The french revolution occurred due to widespread unhappiness at the rapidly declining economic situation in France, caused by King Louis XVI’s many wars and poor management of national funds. The catalyst for this economic crisis was France’s involvement in the American Revolution, which pushed the nation into bankruptcy. The revolution led to the execution of the entire royal family, a period of great unrest called the Terror, and the eventual rise to power of Napoleon Bonaparte.
