Seven Years' War (jan 1, 1756 – jan 1, 1763)
Description:
The Seven Years' War was a conflict fought by every great European power, led by England and France. The war spread across the whole world, with major conflicts occurring in Europe, the American colonies, and India. In Europe, the war was fought over Austria's desire to gain Silesia back from Prussia, and in America and India, the war was fought over control of colonial territory. Overall, England prevailed. In the Treaty of Paris, France ceded territory in India, Canada and all its territories east of the Mississippi to England, and France also ceded the Louisiana Territory to Spain. This war resulted in Britain's rise as the world's predominant power and the fall of France, thus altering the European balance of power.
