The renaissances(rebirth) and the reformation (jun 25, 1485 – mar 1, 1660)

Description:

The English Renaissance was a cultural and artistic movement in England dating from the late 15th century to the early 17th century. As in most of the rest of northern Europe, England saw little of these developments until more than a century later. The beginning of the English Renaissance is often taken, as a convenience, to be 1485, when the Battle of Bosworth Field ended the Wars of the Roses and inaugurated the Tudor Dynasty. Renaissance style and ideas, however.
The English Renaissance is different from the Italian Renaissance in several ways. The dominant art forms of the English Renaissance were literature and music. Visual arts in the English Renaissance were much less significant than in the Italian.
Sites of dramatic performance:
Choir schools, Universities, Inns of Court, Masques.
England had a strong tradition of literature in the English vernacular, which gradually increased as English use of the printing press became common during the mid-16th century.
By the time of Elizabethan literature a vigorous literary culture in both drama and poetry included poets such as Edmund Spenser, whose verse epic The Faerie Queen had a strong influence on English literature but was eventually overshadowed by the lyrics of William Shakespeare, Thomas Wyatt and others.
William Shakespeare and the Globe theater:
Shakespeare's most famous plays were first performed at the Globe Theater, where he worked as a playright and a minor performer.
The Globe was built on the south bank of the River Thames at 1599.
At that time London was growing fast, even though people were working hard to make a living still they liked to entertain, dance and drink.
The Globe was not shaped well and looked like a doughnut but with flat sides. Plays were played at daylight because the roof was open. The Elizabethans did not bath so they were dirty and smelly.
In 1613 during a performance of shakespear's play King Henry the Eighth, the special effects caused a fire, over three thousand audience ran out luckily with no injury, but unfortunately the Globe was destroyed. At that time Shakespeare was wealthy and famous, so the Glob was rebuilt and he own a part of the new building. The Globe was used until 1642 When all London theaters were closed because of the civil war.
